“Just one more thing,….”

I’ve come to the conclusion that regardless of who tells me what,…..I’ll make my own assessments Monday evening.

I check in the Hospital tomorrow night at 8pm, and then they are operating at 7:30 am on Monday, unless there is an emergency that “bumps” my surgery time. Friday I met with the Anesthesiologists Nurse who ran me through the whole thing, she was very nice. She told me their practice was not to have patients wake up with all kinds of “stuff” sticking in them, which is comforting. Interestingly enough she told me usually Doctors “reverse” the anesthesia when they are done, but in the case of By-pass surgery they would prefer to just let it wear off naturally. So I inquired when that might be and she said late Monday, early Tuesday, but by Tuesday afternoon they’d have me sitting up in a recliner. (Cool! I wonder if they will ask me if I want a beer?   Naw, I guess not.) But enough technical stuff!

Last night was the last time I could have an “alcoholic beverage” before Monday,….so I did. No more than usual, but I weakened and gave in and had a “Bloomin’ Onion” , afterall, how fast can the cholesterol get in there if they are going to work on that Monday as well. (Oh, and it was delicious 🙂 )

So here I am in my usual Saturday morning mode at the computer when my wife says to me, “Why don’t you go get a massage this afternoon so you’ll be more relaxed when you go in tomorrow. (Took about ten seconds to get on the phone, call the health food/massage parlor and book a 2:30 this afternoon with Kristin, the best masseuse in the world, then I’ll go to the Pub, drink Bloody Mary mix, and watch the Master’s Golf Tournament for a couple hours with my friends.

I thought about cleaning up “the Pit”, but decided just clearing a 2 foot by 2 foot space on the desk top would be sufficient until I got back. Besides my Desktop computer is Vista operating system, and I really would prefer only I mess with it, that way I don;t have to curse friends and relatives when it screws up.

I think I downloaded Windows Internet Explorer version 8, but it looks the same to me.

So tomorrow I think I’ll just chill and watch the end of the Master’s Golf Tournament, and pack a bag.

       Oh yeah, so here’s what goes to the hospital with me;

            1. iPod Nano with about 30 hours of music on it (mostly ambient “chill” music, sound track of Mama Mia (in case they do give me a guinness), about sixty Classical music pieces, some killer 60’s rock stuff, etc.) complete with plug in battery re-charger, the usual little ear buds (which I hate!) and my set of noise cancellation earphones which are fantastic for “deep soul diving” with no outside sound, just my way to spacey ambient music to guide me.

         2. Full battle pack “Crackberry” including battery re-charger, loaded MP3 player library (bought a new 8 gig sd card to hold even more “stuff”) , a complete backup and synchronized Blackberry 83501 Curve, and wristbraces to stabilize my texting fingers (only kidding)

      3. Two books, one Clive Cussler action/adventure genre, and the other a non-fiction on “Short term Trading Strategies” for investing (buy low, sell high,…at least that’s the hope!)

      4. A couple pair of gym shorts and my silk bathrobe (I hate those damn hospital gowns that leave your ass hanging out.

       5. Oh, and my faithful Olympus digital voice recorder which will let me upload my notes and comments to my computer when I get home and then run them through my Dragon voice to text program. (I think now would be a good time to learn a bit more about both programs, well at least I have the time afterwards.

         6. And of course I will most likely have a TV in the room so I can watch all the re-runs of NCIS, CSI, CSI: New York, CSI Miami, and of course House.

Well time to sign off today, go shave jump in the shower, and head out to the masseuse. (Oh, I gave her a CD with a lot of my ambient music on it becasue it’s perfect for a massage and she loves it. a full 60 minutes of music, no “short cut” versions.

Time seems like it’s dragging a bit, so I may very well do another blog tomorrow. Maybe ” The Pub: a sober look at my drinking buddies”, or perhaps “It always seemed a lot funnier with a couple beers in you”.

Easter Sunday tomorrow and since I’m a Eucharistic Minister in our Church I’ll be up at 5:30 am and giving out communion at all the services until 11:30 am. (Always good to keep you mind occupied)

      -30-

Oh yeah, “the one last thing” restrain yorself from sending any really har-har jokes, etc. or any teary eyed tribute items, for I’ have been told I will want to hold a pillow over my chest when coughing, sneezing, or getting teary and sniffling. Any pain I feel as a direct result of your jokes, teary comments etc. will suffer the full wrath of my pen when next I blog after next week. Count on it. You will be revealed as a CIA operative skilled in subtle forms of remote torture. 🙂

  1. God Speed!! I hope it is as uneventful as it can possible be…and that you are feeling great in no time. We will hold down the bloggy fort in your absense. Cheers 🙂

  2. Well, fuck it. If I can’t make you laugh or cry, what’s the use in commenting. So I won’t.

  3. Good luck and God Speed 🙂
